One of the 31 officially recognized GI products of Bangladesh

The very first GI Product of Bangladesh

The Jamdani saree is a world-renowned traditional handwoven textile and a Geographical Indication (GI) product of Bangladesh. It is the first GI product of Bangladesh, officially registered on November 17, 2016. Celebrated for its intricate motifs and delicate craftsmanship, Jamdani is woven on a traditional handloom using fine cotton or half-silk threads, featuring various motifs such as floral and geometric patterns that appear to float on the fabric. Historically patronized during the Mughal era, this exquisite art form is especially associated with the region of Sonargaon and Dhaka. The Jamdani weaving tradition of Bangladesh has also been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, reflecting its deep cultural significance and enduring legacy. Our mission is to bring this cultural heritage from the weavers' magical den to your bedside Almirah.
